Highlights

This page will tell you my favourite parts of my Great Britain and European holiday.

So my highlights so far are:

* Seeing the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace

* Flying to the other side of the world as an adult

* Seeing sights including the giant lion statues and magnificent gold fountain at Trafalgar Sqaure

* Meeting lots of nice people who are both travellers like me and also London locals who have been nothing but welcoming to us tourists

* Seeing the great Gothic Cologne Cathedral

* Going on a boat ride on the beautiful River Rhine

* Going to the Chocolate Museum

* Seeing all the lovers’ locks on a fence next to a bridge

* Seeing the golden shrine dedicated to the three kings in a church in Germany

* Doing a double decker hop on hop off bus tour of Rome

* The women’s shoes here, they’re beautiful high heeled creations!

* Going to the Vatican

* Throwing a coin into Trevi Fountain to guarantee my return to Rome and sitting by its shimmering blue water

* Eating Italian food including pizza, spaghetti, gelato and risotto

* Drinking fabulous iced coffees

* Going on a boat ride around Venice (doesn’t have to be an expensive gondola) and getting awesome views of everything from the water

* Just walking around Venice and soaking up the sights and atmosphere

* Going to the Louvre in Paris and seeing many of the finest artworks in the world including the most famous and popular the “Mona Lisa”

* Walking across a bridge over the Seine River in Paris and back again. The bridge is very high up or so it seemed to me

* The thrill of seeing the Eiffel Tower in the distance

* Just looking at Notre’ Dame and its gothic beauty

* Going inside the church part of the Cathedral of Notre’ Dame, seeing statues of saints and Mary and Jesus and so many other things there

* Looking at the sparkling gold and jewels of the cathedral’s Treasury

* Standing pretty much on top of Notre’ Dame with stunning views across Paris

* Seeing the gargoyles and the Hunchback’s big bell

* Walking past the Orangery

* Seeing the Grand Palais (Grand Palace)

* Going to Musee’ d’Orsay and seeing sculptures, fancy pottery and all manner of different paintings including Impressionist and Experimental works (my favourites) plus seeing works by famous artists such as Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh among many others!

* My favourite travel experience: Versailles! Everything about this place was wonderful and indescribably brilliant, the palace, the gardens, the thatched cottages, the village, the swan …. The list just goes on and on. You have to go there and experience it for yourself! 😀
